The following items are considered ancillary products and are available to most EMI Health members. Contact EMI Health if you are unsure whether your employer has made these products available to you.
UTAH INTERLOCAL EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT TRUST (UIEBT) 401(k)
Employees of adopting member school districts may contribute to the UIEBT 401(k), before taxes, through the payroll deduction program. You may have the district contribute its 1.5 percent to UIEBT 401(k) or the state 401(k). To have the 1.5 percent routed to UIEBT, you must submit an enrollment form within ten days of your initial date of hire or before January first of any given year. Investing with pre-tax dollars makes it possible to defer taxes, and the earnings, until you start receiving the benefits.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (FSA)
FSA, also known as a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan, is a program that allows you to deduct a portion of your salary before taxes, thereby increasing your yearly spendable income. This election is made every year on the date set by your employer. If the portion you are eligible to deduct is greater than $100 for any given plan year, it would be worthwhile to consider opening an FSA.
