BACK-TO-SCHOOL CLOTHING, SUPPLIES
NEEDED FOR 12 ADDITIONAL MOVE INS AT ROAD HOME SHELTER
Public Can Help These and Other Children by Picking
an Apple off Educators Mutual Apple Trees at Wasatch Front Retailers, Online
SALT LAKE CITY (July 26, 2010) — Educators Mutual
Insurance Association today announced an increased need to collect new
back-to-school clothing and supplies for children residing at the Road Home, a Salt Lake family homeless shelter.
Educators Mutual, which launched the Apple Tree
campaign on July 12 to help 50 children residing in the shelter, learned about
the needs of several additional kids who have moved into the Road Home during
the past two weeks. The sizes and information for these children have been
collected and added to the Educators Mutual Apple Trees, which are set up at 16
DownEast stores, at 10 Payless ShoeSources along the Wasatch Front, at three Salt
Lake Staples locations and in the lobbies of Simmons Radio Group and Educators
Mutual. This year’s campaign also offers the option of selecting an apple
online at www.EducatorsMutual.com.
The public can go to any of these locations and select
an apple, which lists the name of a child living in the shelter or affordable
housing along with a needed clothing or supply item for back-to-school. The
back-to-school items, which should be new and unused, can be purchased and/or
returned to any of the 30 campaign partner locations from Provo to Ogden.
“When we learned several additional children had
moved into the shelter, we took action to include them in the effort and
provide the public with a convenient way to help these deserving students,” said
Christie Hawkes, senior vice president of corporate communications at Educators
Mutual. “The needs for back-to-school in
this challenging economy have never been greater at the Road Home, which is why
we need everyone’s help.”
At the completion of the
campaign, which runs through Aug. 16, Educators Mutual will deliver the
clothing and school supplies to The Road Home in time for back-to-school.
During the
five-year history of the Educators Mutual Apple Tree campaign, more than 7,600
articles of clothing and school supplies have been donated and have benefited
more than 250 children living in The Road Home shelter. For more information about the campaign, visit www.educatorsmutual.com.
