SALT LAKE CITY (March 29, 2010) – Educators Mutual Insurance Association (EMIA), a nonprofit organization serving the needs of Utah’s public schools and institutions for 75 years, today announced the launch of its fifth annual “Walk the Walk,” a program to help motivate Utah teachers, administrators and classified employees to be more active and to promote healthy lifestyles in schools.

The EMIA-sponsored program is available to help Utah schools organize a competition tailored to their individual needs and to develop and implement healthy classroom plans anytime during 2010. Each participating school will receive an activities program and free pedometers for participants to track their steps.

“The goal of ‘Walk the Walk’ is to motivate teachers, administrators and classified employees to be more active and in turn set an example for our children,” said EMIA CEO Andy Galano. “We believe ‘Walk the Walk’ will inspire many to lead a healthier lifestyle.”

Educators Mutual will provide “Walk the Walk” program materials on a first come first service basis with a limit of 5 to 25 participants at each school and 500 participants statewide.
