EDUCATORS MUTUAL NAMES NEW MEDICAL
DIRECTOR
Dr. James Overall to Oversee Medical Claims at
Leading Utah Benefits Provider
SALT LAKE CITY (May 27, 2010) — Educators Mutual Insurance Association (EMIA), a
nonprofit organization serving the needs of Utah’s public schools and
institutions for 75 years, has named Dr.
James Overall as medical director.
In this role, Overall will oversee claims and will
provide expert advice in determining medical necessity for preauthorization and
for claims appeals.
“Dr. Overall will be a tremendous asset to Educators
Mutual as he brings high-level expertise and extensive experience in the
medical field,” said Steve Morrison, CEO of Educators Mutual. “He will not only
ensure that our members’ needs are met by helping review and process claims
quickly and accurately, but he will serve in an advisory role as we launch a
new wellness program to benefit our members.”
Overall has a wide array of experience in the medical
research field. For 26 years, he served as a full-time faculty member at the
University of Utah and as head of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the
University of Utah School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. Most
recently, Overall served as medical and co-director of the pioneering
Integrative Health Clinic and Program at the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center,
where he treated chronic-pain patients using holistic methods to complement
traditional medicine.
