Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) can increase your spendable income and reduce your tax obligation by allowing you to pay eligible medical and dependent care expenses before taxes are calculated. Educators administers the following two FSA options:
- Option 1: The traditional FSA program is available to all Educators members. This program simply requires you to submit a Reimbursement Form and the supporting documentation to Educators' FSA department. Educators then sends you a check reimbursing your eligible expenses.
- Option 2: Your employer may also offer the BennyCard™ program, which allows you to use a special debit card that automatically draws from your FSA fund when you incur eligible health care expenses. The BennyCard™ frees you from spending money out-of-pocket at the time of purchase and waiting for reimbursement checks for the vast majority of health care purchases. It also allows you to check your account balance online at anytime. The IRS requires that every claim be documented either electronically or manually.
