Walk the Walk Senior Style

Eligibility

Participants must be Utah residents age 65 or older. There is no purchase necessary. Free pedometers, program guides, and step logs will be distributed to all eligible participants who register before the deadline as described below.

Rules

Eligible participants are required to register by submitting a completed registration form at any participating location by September 13, 2008.

Participants will track their steps using a pedometer provided by Educators Mutual for a four-week period beginning Sunday, September 14, 2008. Participants are invited to wear the pedometer during all waking hours. Pedometers should be used by only one individual and cannot be shared. Pedometers should be clipped to the top of the pants/skirt above either hip. Participants must use the pedometer provided for the competition.

Steps should be tracked during the entire week. The competition is broken down as follows

  1. Sunday, September 14, through Saturday, September 20
  2. Sunday, September 21, through Saturday, September 27
  3. Sunday, September 28, through Saturday, October 4
  4. Sunday, October 5, through Saturday, October 11

Reporting

Participants will record their steps at the end of each day on a log provided by Educators Mutual. Participants should press the reset button on the pedometer at the start of each new day.

At the end of each week, participants will total their steps for that week and return the completed logs to the locations at which they registered. Alternatively, participants can email their weekly totals to walkthewalk@educatorsmutual.com.Final logs must be submitted no later than Saturday, October 18, 2008.

The competition will begin at 12 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2008, and end at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Participants will be required to report the final week’s totals by 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008.

Prizes

Grand prize winners in each of the following age categories will be determined according to the highest step total:

  • 65-74
  • 75-84
  • 85 and Over

The grand prize will be a choice between $200 cash or an overnight stay at the Homestead, including dinner for two. Runners-up will receive a $50 gift card for Mimi’s. Prizes are subject to change.

The Fine Print

Educators Mutual Insurance Association (EMIA), as sponsor of “Walk the Walk Senior Style,” reserves the right to change any or all of the rules, requirements, or dates. In the case of a tie, EMIA reserves the right to award more than one grand prize or to determine a method to break a tie. EMIA also reserves the right to disqualify any participant. The final outcome of the competition is at the sole discretion of EMIA.
